Sauti Sol is already feeling the heat after loosing close to 5000 subscribers on YouTube in less than 24hrs. This comes after the band threatened to sue Raila Odinga’s Azimio coalition for what they term a copyright infringement. The coalition claims the party played “Extravaganza” music without rights despite the party having a public performance license that allows them to play both local and international music. According to the Kenya Copyright Board, the license doesn’t allow the music to be played on audiovisual mode. The song was played while Azimio was revealing Martha Karua as their running mate.
According to many Netizens, they feel Sauti Soul didn’t do the right thing by taking that action. Taking it to social media, many claimed that the band should be proud that their music is being loved by Kenyans. Many also called for the boycott of Sauti Sol’s music claiming they would even unsubscribe from their channel.
